PLUNKETT FOUNDATION AND CARADOC – CRUISERS TEAM UP FOR S.M.G.H.
The Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital is now equipped with a Zeiss microscope that allows the ears, nose and throat medical team to provide state-of-the-art service to the Middlesex – London area. Local doctors using this piece of equipment include Dr. Marc Raymond, above, and Drs. Marigani and MacRae.The microscope, which cost just under $60,000, was put into service recently thanks to the significant contribution of the Plunkett Foundation, and the Strathroy – Caradoc Cruisers car club. Each year the Plunkett Foundation, represented by Steve Plunkett, Jan Field, Rick Rowcliffe and Peter Van Giffin below, considers requests to support medical needs in this area. Steve Plunkett formed the foundation in memory of his father who was a doctor, researcher, and teacher in London for many years. Mr. Plunkett says, “The Plunkett Foundation Board members and I have always been impressed by the commitment of the Strathroy hospital staff to providing excellent care to the community. It is a fine hospital! We are pleased to be able to support their efforts.” (2008) |

The Caradoc Cruisers support Mr. Plunkett at his “Fleetwood Country Cruize in”. This is a huge classic vehicle show and charity fund raising event, held on Steve and Jan’s London property in June each year. Musical entertainment is booked for the Friday and Saturday nights, and many of the acts are ‘famous’ among a certain ‘era’ of cruise fans.It seems fitting that ‘classic car music’ can support ‘classic ear care’ in our hospital. |
